Memory

Let's talk about memory? My memory...well, it's about gone. I can walk in the house and put down my book and then 10 minutes later go to get it and realize I can't remember where I put it. Yeah, I've warned my husband that I'll be a mess when I get to the age where I supposed to be having memory issues.

LJ's memory though is fabulous. The other day I told him that he was going to go to the dentist and have his teeth cleaned. He wanted to know if I was going to clean his teeth. I told him no and explained that Mrs. Andrea would be doing the cleaning. He then wanted to know who Mrs. Andrea was. So I said "Remember that party you went to at Jump City with the firetruck slide?" He said he did. "Remember the little boy's mommy?" He said he did. "That's who is cleaning your teeth...that's Mrs. Andrea." He said he knew who it was and then offered the extra information. "I got a scratch on the firetruck slide?" he asked. Gee..now that I think about it...he did get a scratch. This party was 6+ months ago. And he remembered a little scratch he got.

This happens all the time. I dropped Alyssa off at a pool for a birthday party and then picked her up. LJ was with me. Months later we were heading over to my brother's house and we passed by the pool (running the speed limit of 55 so we passed fairly quickly). As soon as we passed the pool LJ said "We took Alyssa to a party there?"

And the most amazing one is him remembering his Popa Wyman. He saw him when he was two and then didn't see him again until he was three. We don't have pictures up of him so there was no way for him to be seeing a picture of him and asking who he was to remember his face. But one day Joe had him at the store when they run into Popa Wyman and LJ called out "There's Popa" He'd not seen the man for a year and he was two the last time he did see him. I thought that was just amazing that he remembered him.

Maybe I should start telling LJ where I put my book/keys/bag/mail when I walk through the door so he can remind me where they are when I can't find them. :)

Ha...Caroline has an excellent memory too. Good thing the kids do so they can keep us straight.
